Dornoch has an intriguing history and for those interested in discovering it there is no better place to start than at the ‘History Links’ museum located behind the Castle.

 

Dornoch Cathedral By Steven GourlayThe quality of Golf Courses on offer in the immediate and surrounding area provides a major attraction with many visitors travelling from all over the world to play one of ‘Old Tom Morris’s’ most famous courses – Royal Dornoch. Within a short distance from Dornoch the challenging courses of Tain, Golspie and Brora can be easily reached.


 
The area also provides one of the best beaches in the North of Scotland stretching from the Dornoch Links to the neighbouring village of Embo. Further North from Embo, one of Scotlands National Nature Reserves can be found at Loch Fleet.

 

Cycling in the East Coast of Sutherland is becoming more popular with something for everyone, from the gently undulating coastal routes to more challenging downhill runs, through local forests, for the thrill seekers.
